Don’t know the reason,
Stayed here all season
With nothing to show but this brand new tattoo.
But it’s a real beauty,
A Mexican cutie, how it got here
I haven’t a clue.

Well, as you might have guessed, I decided to get a small tattoo while I was in Key West for Memorial Day. I like the idea that it is the most southern point in the continental United States. So I chose Southernmost Tattoo: appropriate, right? I walked in to speak with them and make an appointment. The process was quite easy, but the tough part is the swimming and sun restrictions that tattoos have. I booked the appointment with Ian, and he began working on the design.
Design
I wanted something that represented the island, but I also didn’t want a slice of Key Lime pie. I figured a geometric conch shell would work well for what I needed. I also made sure that Ian knew the tattoo needed something to do with ‘three.’
Finished
Ian worked quickly and produced a beautiful memory on my arm… It may not be Mexican, but it is definitely a real beauty.
