Another reason I wanted to visit China was to get another tattoo. I figured I would start with my eldest niece, Evie Caris.
Design
As I thought about a good design for Evie, I realized that three of my nieces had middle names that meant “Grace:” Evie Caris, Eleanor Anne, and Adelaide Grace. With this in mind, I figured it might be beautiful to get this in a different language. After some help from my friends that speak Mandarin, I went with 格蕾丝 (Ge Lei Si) which is the name Grace. I also wanted to work in their favourite colours. So Purple for Evie, Pink for Eleanor, and Yellow for Addie.
Location
Now that I had the idea picked, I needed to find a shop that had an artist who spoke English. I found this article, and in it, I found a couple good options. I decided on Mummy Tattoo with the artist Xing Xing. Turns out he didn’t speak English, but the others did. I worked with them on font and layout.

The shop was a little difficult to find, but Mao came down to let me in. It is a nice clean setup.
Finished Product
I am happy with the way it turned out.
